Seán O’Reagain, Senior Expert at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD), is a member of the EU Startups & Scaleups Strategy Task Force. He has wide experience of the industrial dimension of European research and innovation policy and programmes. He has managed the industry programme under Horizon Europe and has had responsibility for policy in relation the digital dimension of industrial research and innovation policy. Previously, he oversaw the development of the Article 187 Initiatives (Joint Undertakings) as the first public-private partnerships with industry at European level. He managed the evaluation of the Seventh Framework Programme and has also had responsibility for initiatives in relation to the European Research Area.
Prior to joining DG RTD, Seán O’Reagain managed the benchmarking for competitiveness and innovation programme in the Commission’s DG GROW.
