Elmar Bonaccurso is technical eXpert for Functional Surfaces @ Airbus Central R&T, where he joined in 2014. He previously held positions of Research Group Leader @ Center of Smart Interfaces of TU Darmstadt and of Group Leader @ Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz . 

Elmar held an Affiliate Professorship @ Department of Mechanical, Industrial & Aerospace Engineering of Concordia University in Montreal from 2017 to 2022, he was member of the Executive Board of the Graphene Flagship from 2019 to 2023, since 2025 he is member of the Executive Board of the Innovative Advanced Materials Initiative, and he is Co-Founder of the two start-up companies Aeomiq and SurfLabX.
