Prof. dr hab. eng. Jerzy Zwoździak is a specialist in the field of modeling environmental change processes, modeling dynamic and static processes, assessment of the pollution impact on the environment and environmental analyses. He is a court mediator, founder and initiator of the Eko-Biegły Association. He held the positions of chairman of the Provincial Nature Protection Commission in Wałbrzych, chairman of the Regional Commission for Environmental Impact Assessment in Opole, chairman of the Regional Commission for Environmental Impact Assessment in Wrocław, advisor to the Chief Inspector of Environmental Protection for environmental monitoring and control, advisor to the Minister of Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry, advisor for new technologies and education at the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, member of the Applied Research Commission of the Scientific Research Committee, honorary member of the Polish Association of Emission Laboratories, member of the Qualification Commission for the experts from the list of the Lower Silesian Voivode, head of the National Center for Air Quality Research at the IMGW. In the recent period, he held the position of Vice-President of the National Water Management Board, being responsible, among others, for cooperation with the European Union. In addition, he held the position of Water Director of the Republic of Poland and Maritime Director of the Republic of Poland. He managed the implementation of the project „Grow Green – Green Cities for Climate and Water Resilience, Sustainable Economic Growth” at the University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław.
He was a member of: the 8th term of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management – State Research Institute and the Team of Chemistry, Chemical Technology and Process Engineering and Environmental Protection of the Applied Research Commission of the Committee for Scientific Research.
He has the qualifications and authorizations of an expert in the field of preparing environmental impact assessments. He holds the degree of Mining Director, III degree.
He successfully conducts environmental impact assessments based on European Union Directives. He is the author of many environmental impact assessment reports and has repeatedly served as the head of the team for assessing the environmental impact of projects that may significantly affect the environment. He develops integrated permits and implements the latest BAT techniques for Plants implementing the EU directive on integrated pollution prevention and control. In the field of energy, he develops strategies for reducing emissions of pollutants released into the atmosphere. He implements projects in the field of renewable sources, methods and technologies of deodorization in industry and agriculture. He develops methods for comprehensive disposal of industrial waste, implements effective methods for the reclamation of degraded areas. He specializes in management and economics in environmental protection and ecology.
During his professional career, he held important positions: director of the Institute and dean of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Head of the Scientific and Didactic Department of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. He currently works at the University of Applied Sciences in Nowy Sącz and is a member of the Presidium and the Main Council of Science and Higher Education, vice-chairman of the Science Committee.
