Prof. Sotiris Makris is leading activities in Robotics and Automation in Manufacturing at the Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation (LMS) in the University of Patras, Greece.  He served as Executive Director of the Teaching Factory Competence Center and as Research Program Manager in LMS.

He is active in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics for Flexible Circular Manufacturing. He has been working in technology deployment via advanced training programs, implementing robotic systems and artificial intelligence applications in industry.

He is leading the European network “Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing Network/AIM-NET”. The network coordinates the actions of European research institutes and industrial companies in the area of the development of AI applications in Industry.

He has participated in a number of funded research projects in collaboration with European industry. He has an active role in EFFRA activities with special emphasis in manufacturing Productivity.
