Garbiñe Guiu Etxeberria holds a PhD in Material Science and has experience in research and innovation within academia and industry. Since joining the European Commission, she has consistently worked on research and innovation, particularly in the preparation and implementation of work programs and policy feedback. She has engaged with various innovation themes, including renewable energies, biotechnologies, bio-based products, (nano)materials, and energy-intensive industries. Recently, she became part of the team focusing on Safe and Sustainable by Design chemicals and materials.
